What are Action Words?

Look at the following sentences :

1. I love to draw.
2. I am playing.
3. Jack is reading.
4. Kelly is singing.

All the bold words like love, playing, reading, singing are action words.

Words which describe an action of something or someone are called Action words. It lets us know what the subject of a sentence is doing. Action words are also known as verbs.
