Seven topics form the Mental Maths Olympiad syllabus for class 9: Number System, Algebra, Comparing Quantities, Geometry, Mensuration, Playing with Numbers and Data Handling.

Two Class 8 topics, Square and Square Roots and Cube and Cube Roots, are no longer listed, and Data Handling and Symmetry is now simply Data Handling. This seven-topic list then stays the same up to Class 12.

Within the topics the Class 9 prep guide covers simplification, polynomials and quadratic equations, boats and streams, heights and distance, areas related to circles, number and alphanumeric series, factorisation, statistics, probability and data interpretation.

The paper sets 100 MCQs in 60 minutes with 120 marks available: 80 Basique questions at 1 mark and 20 Avance questions at 2. Level 2 follows suit and no marks are ever subtracted for errors.

Class 9 Level 1 results for the Mental Maths Olympiad reach your dashboard within 10 days of the last Level 1 answer key date, and Level 2 results within a month of the last Level 2 answer key date; use the login you registered with.

Level 2 ranks are decided by marks. Where marks are equal CREST looks at the Level 1 score, then at the time taken, and finally at the date of birth, placing the younger student higher.
