These goals are like a map guiding the students of grade 6 towards a better, greener world.
The world is facing big challenges like climate change, pollution, and deforestation among others. The International Green Warrior Olympiad is an opportunity for students in grade 6 to understand and tackle these issues. By participating, students become part of a global movement dedicated to preserving our planet.
IGWO doesn't just test knowledge of grade 6 students; it helps to expand it. Students will explore the SDG goals that focus on areas like Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Responsible Consumption and Production, Climate Action, Life Below Water, Life On Land, and Food Security and Agriculture. Understanding these goals will make them a better, more informed global citizen.

Your class 6 International Green Warrior Olympiad (IGWO) list is largely rewritten from Class 5. The Green Warrior Olympiad syllabus for class 6 uses the same eight themes, with many new topics under them:
Climate Action now covers the difference between climate and weather, the carbon cycle and how humans disrupt it, and the role of the atmosphere and oceans in climate regulation. The greenhouse effect stays, worded as in Class 5. Energy adds nuclear energy as a source, hydro and geothermal energy, and innovations like solar roadways and smart grids.
On water, look for common waterborne diseases such as cholera and dysentery, water scarcity in different regions, and wastewater treatment. Cities bring urban farming, green infrastructure, and universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible green and public spaces. Life Below Water introduces marine protected areas and sanctuaries; Life On Land adds endangered species, deforestation and habitat fragmentation. Food now includes how climate change affects food production.
Some Class 5 topics do not return, among them biomass, marine food webs, coral reefs and kelp forests, rainwater harvesting, food safety, and waste reduction and upcycling projects. The water cycle, the three R's, energy-efficient appliances and lighting, and composting continue from Class 5. Classes 7 and 8 use this same list, so what you learn now carries forward.
Expect a 60-minute paper of 50 multiple-choice questions worth 60 marks: 40 Green Champ questions at 1 mark each and 10 Green Challenger questions at 2. There is no Level 2 to follow, and wrong answers are marked as zero, not minus. CREST notes that a few questions may test more advanced understanding than the list suggests.

Exam Dates |
Practice Test 2 Dates: 20th and 21st November 2026 Level 1 Dates: 14th and 23rd January 2027 |
Start your International Green Warrior Olympiad preparation with the official list and make your own notes, one page per theme. For each topic write three lines: what it is, what causes the problem, and one solution. The carbon cycle, wastewater treatment and the greenhouse effect are worth a labelled diagram each.
Look for the syllabus in the world around you. A news report about a flood, a heatwave or a water shortage can usually be matched to a topic. Find out whether your city has a metro, solar panels on public buildings or a sewage treatment plant, and note how each fits the Sustainable Cities and Clean Water themes.
Practice papers come next: the class 6 Green Warrior Olympiad sample papers page carries ten sample questions with answers and a PDF sample paper. Time each attempt; at 72 seconds a question, 50 questions fill the hour. Leave no gaps, because IGWO never takes marks away.
