CREST describes the aim of SDG 2 as global food security, reached by improving access to food through higher farm productivity, income growth, social protection and market access for small-scale food producers. SDG 2 was last set in Class 6 and comes back in Class 10. Sketching is back as well, after appearing in Class 5. Six of the eight topics are posters, as in Class 9, but unlike Classes 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 there is no poster named after the goal itself.

The titles are long and precise, and each word counts for Theme Adherence, worth 15 marks. Food Production Chain implies stages in order. Bin Filled With Waste Food and Fighting Hunger With Food Waste both mention waste, but one shows the problem and the other a solution. Sketching- A Person With An Appropriate Amount Of Food Portion is about the right amount, not a feast. Globe with Zero Poverty puts the whole world in the frame.

In the International Drawing Olympiad for class 10, the paper is one drawing, 60 minutes, 100 marks, in a single level.

The 100 marks divide as follows: Neatness and Composition 30 (layout, balance, overall impact, line quality, colouring and shading, detailing and craftsmanship), Originality/Creativity 20, Theme Adherence 15, Quality of Scan 15, Message Conveyed 10 and Title/Caption 10.

Exam-day checklist:

• kit: HB pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, drawing board, and colours as required, for example pencil colours, crayons, oil pastels, or pastel colours with a painting brush
• sheet: white, A4 (210 mm by 297 mm), with a 1 cm border; keep the drawing inside it
• labels: your name, CREST ID and class outside the border at the bottom left corner
• drawing: a clean, flat surface, and pencil lines that are crisp and unbroken
• camera: show the drawing every 7-10 minutes so the committee can track completion; failing to do so may lead to disqualification
• upload: a high-resolution photo of only the drawing on a plain background, or a scan without grey shades or scanner marks (Adobe Scan or Microsoft Office Scan is recommended), as a .jpg, .jpeg or .png of 10 MB or less, within 5 minutes of submitting the exam (missing this may lead to disqualification)
