a. The Science (EVS) Olympiad for Junior KG suits children of 4 to 5, from any school board.
b. There are two ways in: the school registers its Junior KG class, or you register your child individually. Children from more than 60 countries have taken CREST Olympiads since 2019.
c. You stay beside your child for the whole paper. At this age the exam is parent/teacher assisted, so help them understand the question and then let them pick the answer on their own.
d. Equipment: a laptop, desktop or tablet larger than 11.5 inches (a Mac, an iPad or a Windows device on Windows 8 or newer), a webcam (the exam is monitored through it), a stable internet connection and the latest Google Chrome (Edge or Firefox also work; Safari is not supported). Mobile devices won't work.
e. Level 2 follows Level 1 for every Junior KG child whose Level 1 score is 60% or more.
f. A free trial test lets you both try the platform before you pay.
1. Plants become interesting. The Science Olympiad for Junior KG covers the parts of a plant. Spotting a root, a stem or a leaf in a question makes the potted plant on the balcony worth a closer look.
2. Real people and kind words. The doctor, teacher, farmer, policeman, carpenter and traffic police are all in the Junior KG list, next to polite words and feelings and emotions. Children learn to notice who helps them, and how to thank them.
3. Weather words. Sunny, cloudy, rainy and windy come in this year. A child who names the weather every morning is already doing simple science: watching first, then describing.
4. Recognition without pressure. There are no ranks at this age. Instead, 60% or more in Level 2 earns a Star Medal and a Merit Certificate, and every child gets a Digital Participation Certificate. Other experiences are collected on the CREST testimonials page.

Use the latest version of Google Chrome (Edge or Firefox also work); the exam cannot be taken on the Safari browser. The exam is monitored through a webcam.
Junior KG keeps some Nursery themes and swaps others. Plants Around Us (with plant parts) and a separate Weather unit are new, helpers now have their own unit with named jobs, and Seasons adds spring along with seasonal clothes and food. The home-and-school unit and the flowers from the Nursery list are not part of Junior KG.
Below is every unit of the Junior KG Science Olympiad syllabus:
Section 1
For its Higher Order Thinking Questions, the Achievers Section goes back to these seven units.
Your child answers 25 questions in 45 minutes for a total of 30 marks: 20 questions carry 1 mark and 5 Achievers questions carry 2. Level 2 follows the same pattern, and no marks are cut for a wrong answer.

The exam fee is INR 275 for students studying and enrolling from India. For students studying and residing outside of India, the fee is USD 15.
Three or four short sessions a week, about 15 minutes each, suit a Junior KG child. Keep them cheerful and stop before your child gets tired.
Give each session a single unit. Pull out a small weed or a coriander plant to see the roots, stem and leaves. Make a weather chart for the fridge and let your child draw a sun, a cloud, a raindrop or the wind each morning. Play "who am I?" with community helpers: "I look after sick people", "I make tables and chairs". Sort animal pictures into domestic, wild and water animals, and match the babies to their parents. Talk about which clothes and food go with summer, winter, rainy and spring days.
Once those games feel easy, the Junior KG Science (EVS) Olympiad sample papers are the next step. Work through the sample paper questions a handful at a time. Read a question aloud, pause, and leave the answer to your child. If an answer is wrong, ask them to look at the pictures again before you explain.
There is plenty of time: 45 minutes for 25 questions works out to roughly 1 minute 48 seconds each. The bigger job is getting used to the screen and the webcam, so after a sample paper or two, take the free trial together as if it were the real exam. For more picture practice beyond the sample papers, see the Olympiad books page.

Since the examination is parent/teacher assisted, no ranking system is followed. Every candidate scoring 60% or more in the final level examination is awarded a Star Medal and Merit Certificate. To maintain complete transparency, the answer key is released before the declaration of final results, and participants are also given the opportunity to challenge any question or answer in case of doubt.
Expect Junior KG Level 1 results within 10 days of the last Level 1 answer key date, and Level 2 results within a month of the last Level 2 answer key date. The dashboard keeps them under Performance and then Results, once you sign in with your registration details.
Two moments matter. After Level 1, see whether your child scored 60% or more, since that is the mark for Level 2. After Level 2, 60% or more earns a Star Medal and a Merit Certificate. Children below that still receive a Digital Participation Certificate, and none of this involves a rank list, because CREST does not rank children before Class 2.
Speed is something a published Senior KG review singles out: results, it says, are announced fast. Physical medals and certificates are posted to the school or home address given at registration, so check that address now rather than later.
a. Students scoring 60% or more in Level 2 will be awarded a Star Medal along with a Merit Certificate.
