The International Drawing Olympiad syllabus for Class 7 returns to clean power under UN SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy. Its eight topics are listed below.
In CREST's description, SDG 7 aims to ensure affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030, including electricity and clean cooking for rural and underserved communities. The Class 7 list covers the sources (solar panels, biomass), the uses (an EV charging station, a bulb) and the result: a cleaner planet and clean air to breathe.

Class 3 was the last class on SDG 7. The subjects have moved on: Draw EV Vehicle in Class 3 becomes Poster - EV Charging Station, and biomass appears twice, as Biomass Energy Plant and Biomass Bulb Art. After the six posters of Class 6, Class 7 has three. Clean air links the two years as well: Class 3 had Poster - Clean Air, and Class 7 has A Person Inhaling Clean Air.
Two titles are written in the first person, My Energy Efficient Country and I Am Not Lazy To Save the Planet, which invites a personal point of view. A Person Inhaling Clean Air puts a human figure at the centre. Renewable Solar Energy Panel and Biomass Energy Plant are technical subjects where accurate detail helps, and Cleaner Planet is wide open. Biomass shows up twice, but the two topics differ: Biomass Energy Plant is a building with its machinery, while Biomass Bulb Art is an art piece built around a bulb, so expect to draw them in very different ways.
In the International Drawing Olympiad for class 7, one drawing, 60 minutes and 100 marks make up the whole paper, and no Level 2 follows. In that single hour you plan, draw, colour, title and check one sheet, so practise all five steps together.
Theme Adherence gives 15 marks, Quality of Scan 15, Originality/Creativity 20, and Title/Caption and Message Conveyed 10 each. Neatness and Composition is the heaviest at 30 marks, for layout, balance, overall impact, line quality, colouring and shading, detailing and craftsmanship.
First, the kit. Keep an HB pencil, sharpener, eraser, drawing board and the colours you need (crayons, oil pastels, pencil colours, or pastel colours with a painting brush). The drawing sheet is white, A4, 210 mm by 297 mm.
Second, the sheet. Draw a 1 cm border and keep the whole drawing inside it. Your name, CREST ID and class go outside it, bottom left.
Third, the exam itself. Work on a clean, flat surface, with crisp pencil lines and no broken strokes. Every 7-10 minutes, show your drawing to the camera; the committee uses this to track completion, and missing it may lead to disqualification.
Last, the upload. Either photograph the drawing alone on a plain background in high resolution, or scan it with no grey shades or scanner marks. Adobe Scan or Microsoft Office Scan works well. Upload .jpg, .jpeg or .png, 10 MB at most, within 5 minutes of submitting; a missed upload may lead to disqualification.
