Food and hunger shape the International Drawing Olympiad syllabus for Class 6. Its goal is UN SDG 2 - Zero Hunger, and all eight topics are listed below.
CREST describes Zero Hunger as the UN goal to end hunger, achieve food security, improve nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture by 2030, so that everyone has enough safe, nutritious food all year round. It also points to better nutrition for vulnerable groups such as children and pregnant women. The Class 6 posters pick up several parts of this: wasting less, eating well, and ending poverty and hunger.

SDG 2 is new in Class 6. Doodle Art and Collage Art appear for the first time, and the list has six posters, up from two in Class 5. With Poster as the first word of six titles, much of your hour will go into joining a picture to a slogan.
Notice the tense and tone of each title. Poster - End Hunger Achieved describes a goal already reached, so draw the world after the change, not the problem. Taste But Don't Waste Food is a warning, Healthy Food is a celebration, and No More Poverty is a demand. Doodle Art - Hunger Free World and Collage Art - Future We Want name both the style and the subject, so the style itself is part of Theme Adherence (15 marks). Three posters, Healthy Food, Save Food and SDG 2 Zero Hunger, are broad, which leaves room for one strong symbol, such as a plate drawn as a globe, to carry the whole message.
You will have 60 minutes to complete one drawing, marked out of 100, in a single-level exam.
Title/Caption earns up to 10 marks, Message Conveyed 10 and Theme Adherence 15. The other categories are Originality/Creativity (20), Quality of Scan (15) and Neatness and Composition (30), the last one covering layout, balance, overall impact, line quality, colouring and shading, detailing and craftsmanship. With six posters, expect the message and the title to matter a lot.
Bring an HB pencil, a sharpener, an eraser and a drawing board, with your own choice of colours from pencil colours, crayons, oil pastels or pastel colours and a brush. You draw on a white A4 drawing sheet, 210 mm by 297 mm, inside a 1 cm border, and you write your name, CREST ID and class outside that border at the bottom left.
Sit at a clean, flat surface and keep your pencil lines sharp, with no broken lines. Every 7-10 minutes you show the drawing to the camera so its progress can be followed; if you skip this, you risk disqualification.
When you finish, upload a high-resolution photo of only the drawing on a plain background, or a scan without grey shades or scanner marks made with Adobe Scan, Microsoft Office Scan or a similar app. The file has to be .jpg, .jpeg or .png and no larger than 10 MB. You get 5 minutes after submitting the exam to upload it, and failing to upload in that time may lead to disqualification.
