b. Board does not matter. Students from CBSE, ICSE, IB, State Board and other schools take the same exam, and children join from many countries.
c. Registration works two ways: your child's school can register the class, or you can register your child directly as an individual.
d. A parent or teacher sits with the child. You can help them understand what a question is asking; the answer should be their own.
e. Everything happens from home. You need a laptop, desktop or tablet with a screen bigger than 11.5 inches (Windows 8 or later on a Windows device; Macs and iPads are fine), a webcam that stays on (the exam is webcam-proctored), a stable internet connection and the latest Google Chrome, or Edge or Firefox. Safari is not supported, and phones are not allowed.
f. CREST Maths has two levels for Junior KG. Children who score 60% or more in Level 1 go on to Level 2.
g. Want to see the platform first? The free trial lets your child try a practice paper before you register.
1. Numbers start to mean something. Comparing 23 and 41, or deciding whether two groups are equal, teaches a Junior KG child that numbers have size, not just names.
2. Words for the world around them. Heavy and light, full and empty, tall and short are words children use all day. The Olympiad turns them into small, friendly puzzles.
3. Early reasoning. A question like "what comes before 30?" or "is 18 greater than 21?" asks a child to think one step ahead. That is where logical thinking begins.
4. A friendly first brush with an exam. A published Senior KG review gives thanks that the youngest classes get a chance to participate, and finds the topics useful for regular class. You can read more reviews on the CREST testimonials page.

Keep practice short and close to your child. Two or three sessions of 15 minutes a week, with you beside them, will do more than one long Sunday session.
Use what you already have. Fill one cup with water and leave one empty. Hold a book in one hand and a pencil in the other and ask which is heavier. Write numbers up to 50 on cards and play "which is greater?". Draw hearts, stars and ovals and ask your child to name them. Read the number names from one to twenty together.
When your child is ready, try the Junior KG Maths Olympiad sample papers. Do a few picture questions at a time. Read the question, wait, and let your child answer. If they get one wrong, ask them to look again rather than giving the answer away.
The real paper has 25 questions in 45 minutes, roughly 1 minute 48 seconds per question, so speed is not the worry. Getting comfortable with the screen is. Do the free trial together, webcam on, just like exam day. The Olympiad books page has CREST workbooks if you want printed practice.

Since the examination is parent/teacher assisted, no ranking system is followed. Every candidate scoring 60% or more in the final level examination is awarded a Star Medal and Merit Certificate. To maintain complete transparency, the answer key is released before the declaration of final results, and participants are also given the opportunity to challenge any question or answer in case of doubt.
Here is what happens after the exam. The answer key is published first, before any result. Go through it, and if an answer looks wrong to you, raise a challenge on the answer key page.
Then, normally within 10 days of the last Level 1 answer key date, your child's Junior KG Level 1 result is ready; the Level 2 result follows within a month of the last Level 2 answer key date. Sign in using your registered credentials; the path is Performance, then Results, then the subject.
You won't find a rank list. A parent or teacher helps during the exam at this age, so CREST does not rank Junior KG children. What counts is the score in Level 2, the final level: 60% or more brings a Star Medal with a Merit Certificate. All other children get a Digital Participation Certificate, kept on the dashboard.
