a. Studying in Class 7 under CBSE, ICSE, IB, a State Board or another recognised board? You are eligible for the Maths Olympiad for Class 7.
b. Sign up via your school, or as an individual from any country. CREST Olympiads have students in 60+ countries.
c. You will take the exam on your own, online, from home, and the webcam stays on for the whole paper. One Class 7 reviewer called the webcam-on exam a new experience for kids, so try it once in the free practice test before the real day.
d. Exam devices: a laptop, desktop or tablet with a screen above 11.5 inches, whether a Windows machine on Windows 8 or later, a Mac or an iPad. Run an up-to-date Google Chrome (or else Edge or Firefox; Safari is not supported) on a stable internet connection. Phones are not accepted.
e. There are two levels. Qualifying in Level 1 gets you into Level 2.
1. Algebra with confidence. Class 7 moves from Algebra to Algebraic Expressions and adds Simple Linear Equations. Olympiad questions show you many more ways they are used than a school exercise does.
2. Better geometric reasoning. Triangles, congruence, lines and angles: the questions push you to work out why an answer is right, not just what it is.
3. Questions that make you think. As a Class 7 reviewer put it, CREST questions are tricky and make students think, and that improves their thinking ability.
4. Early competitive practice. A timed, ranked international exam in Class 7 is good preparation for the competitive tests that come in senior school.

Class 7 has 15 topics, and several are brand new. Make a timetable that gives you six to eight weeks, with one revision day every week.
Put the new chapters first. For Exponents and Powers, practise the laws with small numbers until they feel automatic. For Simple Linear Equations, solve one or two every day and check each answer by putting it back into the equation. For Congruence of Triangles, learn the SSS, SAS, ASA and RHS rules with drawn examples. Comparing Quantities is easier with real shop bills and price tags.
Then take the class 7 Maths Olympiad sample papers, and list every question you got wrong by chapter. That list tells you what to revise next. The class 7 Maths Olympiad books, including the CREST workbook, fill those gaps with more questions.
On timing: 50 questions in 60 minutes is about 72 seconds per question. Symmetry and Visualizing Solid Shapes questions are often quicker; save that time for equations and word problems. Take the free practice test with the webcam on, and if you want chapter-wise tests, there are class 7 Maths Olympiad worksheets from Olympiad Success, the official preparation partner of CREST Olympiads.
