Plants

1. Plants are living things that grow in the ground.
2. They need water, sunlight, and love to help them grow big and strong.

Different Types of Plants

Plants come in many different shapes and sizes.

Trees

1. Trees are big and tall.
2. They have a strong trunk and branches.
3. They give shade to animals and people.
4. Examples: Oak tree, pine tree, maple tree, and apple tree.

Small Plants

1. Some plants don't grow very tall; they stay short and small.
2. Examples: Marigold, daisy, lemon plant, and rose.

Climbing Plants

1. These plants like to climb up things.
2. They hold on tight to fences or walls.
3. Examples: Ivy, grapevine, bougainvillaea, and money plant.

Creeping Plants

1. They grow low and wide, spreading their stems and leaves on the ground.
2. Examples: Sweet potato, watermelon, and pumpkin.

Uses of Plants

1. Animals find homes in plants. Birds build nests in trees, and bees visit flowers for nectar to make honey.
2. Some plants give us medicine to help us feel better when we're sick.
3. Trees provide shade, like a big umbrella. They give us cool places to rest and play on hot days.
4. Plants make the air clean and fresh.
5. Many plants give things to eat. Carrots, tomatoes, and potatoes are all from plants. Fruits like apples, bananas, and oranges come from plants too.

Fruits

1. Fruits are tasty and colourful foods that come from plants. They are usually sweet or sometimes a little sour.
2. Fruits contain seeds inside them.
3. They come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colours.
4. Some fruits are soft and tender, like berries. Others are crisp and firm, like the apples.
5. Some examples of fruits are apples, bananas, oranges, grapes, strawberries, watermelons, pineapples and blueberries.

Vegetables

1. Vegetables are like special parts of plants that we can eat and enjoy.
2. There are lots of different vegetables. Peas, which are round and pop when you eat them, and cucumbers, which are cool and fresh, are examples.

Types of Vegetables

1. Leafy Vegetables

1. Sometimes, we can eat the leaves of some plants.
2. For example: Spinach, which is like green leaves, kale, and lettuce are some examples.

2. Root Vegetables

1. Some plants have delicious roots hidden underground.
2. We dig them up and eat them. Carrot, beetroot, turnip, and radish are root vegetables.

3. Stem Vegetables

1. Some plants have tasty parts in their stems that we eat.
2. Asparagus, which is long and green, and celery are stem vegetables.

Flowers

1. A Flower is the part of the plant that blossoms and looks really pretty.
2. Flowers can have lots of different shapes and colours and sometimes they even have a nice smell that we enjoy.
3. They help plants make tiny things called seeds that can grow into new plants.
4. A few examples of flowers are roses, sunflowers, tulips, daisies, lilies, daffodils, orchids, and carnations.
