Types of Plants - Class 1 Notes & Olympiad Questions

Types of Plants - Class 1 Science

Plants can be classified into multiple types based on their shape, size, and the way they grow. Some plants can grow very tall, some short. Some plants need support to grow but some don’t.

Different Types of Plants with Their Names

Based on these different characteristics, we can categorise plants into 5 broad groups. These are:

  1. Trees
  2. Shrubs
  3. Herbs
  4. Climbers
  5. Creepers

Trees

b) They have a single, woody stem known as a trunk. Usually, this stem or trunk gives rise to many branches.
c) These branches are where the leaves, flowers, and fruits of the tree grow.
