A Senior KG child learns best in short bursts with you nearby. Aim for 15 to 20 minutes, four or five days a week, starting a few weeks before the exam.
Make the topics part of the day. Count steps in 2s and 5s. Ask "what comes between 14 and 16?" while waiting for the lift. Use buttons for 1-digit sums like 4 + 3 and 9 - 5, then compare the answers with the >, < and = signs. Say the days of the week at breakfast and find the months on a calendar. Hunt for a ball (sphere), an ice-cream cone and a dice (cube) around the house.
Next, sit together with the Maths Olympiad questions for Senior KG from the Senior KG sample papers. Read each question aloud and give your child time to answer. Last year's paper, linked in the table, shows the sort of questions asked before, and the marks distribution explains how the 30 marks are shared between the two sections.
Timing is gentle. With 45 minutes for 25 questions, a child has close to two minutes for each one (about 108 seconds). Do one full sample paper in a single sitting so your child gets used to staying with it, and take the free trial, which looks just like the real exam screen.
