Here is the Class 9 study material for the CREST Mental Maths Olympiad (CMMO), grouped under the seven official Class 9 syllabus units. Polynomials, quadratic equations, probability and statistics come in this year. Each link opens a free CREST topic page.

What's new in Class 9

The official syllabus drops from nine units to seven. Square and Square Roots and Cube and Cube Roots are no longer listed, and Data Handling and Symmetry becomes Data Handling. The topics new in this guide include:

• decimal expansion of rational numbers and simplification
• polynomials and quadratic equations
• boats and streams
• surface area and volume of a hemisphere, heights and distance, and the area of a triangle
• number and alphanumeric series, and factorisation
• statistics, probability and data interpretation

The decimal expansion and hemisphere topics appear only in the Class 9 guide, not in Classes 10 to 12.

Class 9 paper at a glance

100 questions, 60 minutes, 120 marks: 80 Basique questions at 1 mark and 20 Avance questions at 2 marks. Level 2 has the same pattern. CREST's Mental Maths workbook for Class 9 is a combined Class 9 and 10 book.
