Preparation Material of CREST Mental Maths Olympiad (CMMO) for Class 8

This page lists the Class 8 study material for the CREST Mental Maths Olympiad (CMMO) under the nine official Class 8 syllabus units, the same units as Class 7. Two topics are added this year, discounts and linear equations in one variable. Each link opens a free CREST topic page.

What's new in Class 8

The official Class 8 syllabus keeps all nine Class 7 units. This guide adds two topics:

• Linear equation in one variable, in the Algebra group, after algebraic expressions and simple equations.
• Discounts, in Comparing Quantities, which now has eleven topics.

Class 8 is also the last class with Square and Square Roots and Cube and Cube Roots as syllabus units. From Class 9 they are no longer listed.

Class 8 paper at a glance

• Questions and time: 100 in 60 minutes
• Marks: 120, from 80 Basique questions at 1 mark and 20 Avance questions at 2 marks
• Level 2 follows the same pattern

How to use this guide in Class 8

• Begin with the two added topics, linear equations and discounts, then return to the topics you already know from Class 7.
• Give the squares, cubes and roots units a last thorough revision this year.
• In Comparing Quantities, mix discount questions with profit and loss and percentage, since the three use the same ideas.
• Check yourself with the free Class 8 Mental Maths worksheets and the Class 8 CMMO sample paper.
