What's new in Class 11

The topics stay the same. The official Class 11 syllabus repeats the seven units used since Class 9: Number System, Algebra, Comparing Quantities, Geometry, Mensuration, Playing with Numbers and Data Handling. The guide below is the same as the Class 10 guide, and the paper pattern does not change.

With no new topics, Class 11 is a year to answer familiar question types more quickly and accurately.

Class 11 paper at a glance

The paper has 100 questions to answer in 60 minutes and carries 120 marks. The Basique section has 80 questions worth 1 mark each; the Avance section has 20 worth 2 marks each.

How to use this guide in Class 11

• Concentrate on Comparing Quantities, the longest group with ten topics from time and distance to ratio and proportion. Mix them in one set rather than one topic at a time.
• Keep Data Handling in regular practice. Statistics, probability and data interpretation each need a table or a set of numbers read carefully before any calculation.
• Work through the free Class 11 Mental Maths worksheets, then use the Class 11 CMMO sample paper to practise keeping to about 36 seconds a question.
