    Adverbs are words that describe or modify verbs and adjectives. It is used to provide more information about the verb, adjective or action in the sentence.

    Let's understand it through examples:

    • She ran quickly to catch the bus.
    • The mountains are far away.
    • He sings well in the school choir.
    • I have a school tomorrow.
    • Speak softly in the library.

    Types of Adverbs

    Following are the three basic types of adverbs:

    1. Adverbs of Manner

    Adverbs of manner describe how an action is performed.

    Examples:

    • The baby slept softly in its crib.
    • The children played happily in the park.
    • I was sitting quietly in the library.
    • The cat carried her kittens gently in her mouth.
    • She smiled kindly at her friend.

    2. Adverbs of Time

    Adverbs of time describe when an action happened.

    Examples:

    • I am playing with my toys now.
    • We are going to the park today.
    • We will have a picnic tomorrow.
    • I finished my homeworkyesterday.
    • The bell will ring soon.

    3. Adverbs of Place

    Adverbs of place describe the location or position of an action.

    Examples: 

    • The cat is here.
    • The ball is over there.
    • We are walking near the park.
    • The toys are inside the toy box.
    • The Sun is shining outside.

    1. We played outside in the park.

    9. The robot moved slowly.
