  • What are Adjectives?

Adjectives are words that describe or provide additional information about nouns. Nouns are people, places, things or animals' names. Adjectives make our sentences more interesting and help to visualise what we're saying.

    Read the following sentences:

    2. The cat is small.
    3. Sarah is a happy girl.
    4. The puppy looks sad.

    adjective-c2

The words big, small, happy and sad describe the nouns elephant, cat, Sarah and puppy. So they are adjectives. These are also called describing words. Describing words tell us about the colour, shape, size, quantity and quality of something.
