What is covered in the Class 6 book?

There are nine chapters, one for each topic on the Class 6 CMMO syllabus. Algebra is the one addition since Class 5. The free chapter, Knowing Our Numbers, gives 100 four-option questions on numbers in the millions, comparing decimals such as 5.007 and 5.07, BODMAS, and estimation by rounding, for example the product of 582 and 997. It ends with puzzles like two consecutive even numbers whose product is 120, and a student who averages 85 over three tests.

After the chapters there is a CREST previous year paper for a one-hour trial run, and then the answer key.

How does the book help in the CMMO?

At 100 questions in an hour, the aim in Class 6 is to recognise each type of question at once. Estimation questions are a good example: rounding first and multiplying second is far quicker than working out the exact product. As your child goes through the chapters, keep a notebook of shortcuts, divisibility rules and fraction-decimal pairs, and read it through often.
