What does the Class 7 Mental Maths book teach?

Four topics are new on the Class 7 CMMO syllabus: Number System, Square and Square Roots, Cube and Cube Roots, and Geometry. The book gives each its own chapter. The free Number System chapter has 100 questions, many of them short stories about integers: a hiker 200 m above sea level climbs 150 m and comes down 180 m; a submarine 300 m below the surface rises and dives again; a game starts at -100 points. Others ask for a two-digit number that grows by 27 when its digits swap, or how many of 25 students like both cricket and football.

The book finishes with a CREST previous year paper and an answer key.

How does it help with the CMMO?

Each of the 100 exam questions gets about 36 seconds, so your child needs squares and cubes at their fingertips and a feel for signs with negative numbers. Comparing Quantities, with percentage, profit and loss, interest and time and work, is a big part of the syllabus, and the chapter-wise practice lets you give it extra time.
