What does the Class 4 Mental Maths book contain?

The six chapters match the six CMMO topics for Class 4, which are the same as in Class 3. The book takes the numbers further. Its free chapter has 100 four-option questions, several of them on 4-digit numbers: the sum of the place value and face value of a digit, the smallest 4-digit number, the successor of 892, and the digits in 2068 whose place value equals their face value. A harder one asks how many digits there are in the sum of the successor of 102 and the predecessor of 958.

Two sections close the book: a CREST previous year paper and the answer key.

Where does this book fit in CMMO preparation?

Nothing new joins the topic list in Class 4, which makes Class 4 a year for getting things right rather than learning fresh material. Your child faces 80 questions in 60 minutes. While working through the chapters, jot down each slip, a missed carry here or a mixed-up place value there, and revisit that list every Sunday. Once the chapters feel comfortable, set a timer for the previous year paper.
