What will your child practise in the Class 3 book?

Class 3 is the year Fractions joins the CMMO syllabus, and the book gives it a chapter of its own alongside the five topics carried over from Class 2. Numbers now run to three digits. The free first chapter has 100 multiple-choice questions on them: writing 964 stickers as a number name, giving the expanded form of seven hundred sixty-two, naming the successor of the greatest 3-digit number and finding the smallest 3-digit multiple of 3. One question hands over three number cards and asks for the least even number they can make.

At the back your child will find a CREST previous year paper and the answer key for checking work at home.

How does it help in the CMMO exam?

The Class 3 paper is longer than last year's, with 80 questions in the same hour. That leaves about 45 seconds a question, so there is little time to write anything down. The chapter questions train your child to see place value and number names at a glance. Try timed sets of ten in around seven and a half minutes, then sit the previous year paper in one hour near the exam.
