Olympiad Exams in Russia

i) English Olympiad in Russia

As part of the global English Olympiad, the English Olympiad global team offers native and non-native Russian students to become English Olympiad ambassadors on campus in Russia.

This competition has three rounds: selection round, theater round and grand finale. Russian schools, colleges and university authorities can easily register (institutional registration) for the selection rounds of the English Olympiad in Russia.

English Olympiad in Russia has six groups for different classes called -

1. Kids (till class 2)
2. Small Starts (3-5 classes)
3. Juniors (6-8 classes)
4. High Flyers (9- 10 classes)
5. Trailblazers (11-12 classes) and
6. Seniors (Any student above Higher secondary class)

ii) All-Russian School Olympiad in Biology

Every year, the Ministry of Education publishes a special decree on the next All-Russian school Olympiad, containing information and instructions on the Russian NBO. This order will be sent to all regional departments of the Ministry of Education throughout the Russian Federation and distributed to schools and other educational institutions (gymnasiums, lyceums, etc.). Students from secondary schools are eligible to take part in the NBO. And the NBO exam is conducted in 4 rounds.

Note: Only Russian NBO winners from the respective year are eligible to compete in the International Biology Olympiad (IBO).

Since 1994, Russian NBO has been conducted generally in accordance with IBO guidelines and has included both theoretical and practical tests. Additionally, the grading generally complies with IBO regulations.

Test

The Russian NBO theoretical and practical exams generally correspond to the IBO exams. The 3rd and 4th round tests are prepared by the Central Methodological Committee and correspond to the IBO tests. Theoretical tests include questions with only one correct answer (Part A, approximately 40-50 questions), multiple-choice questions (Part B, approximately 40-50 questions) and image-statement comparison/confrontation (Part C, 15-20 questions).

Grade 9 practical exams include Botany, Zoology and Human Anatomy and Physiology.

Grade 10 and 11 practical exams include Plant Anatomy and Physiology, Animal and Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Ecology, Bioinformatics and more.

Awards

All participants in each round of the Russian NBO will receive a "participation certificate" and the winner (maximum 40% of the participants in each round; the winner's score must not be less than 50% of the maximum score) receive a diploma and some gifts/souvenirs. Round 3 winners have the option of free admission to a local (regional) university or research institute. Winners of the 4th round can enter any university in the Russian Federation for free.
