Olympiad Exams in Uzbekistan

i) National Biology Olympiad - Uzbekistan

The ministry of public education of the Republic of Uzbekistan is the main supervisor and organizer of the National Biology Olympiad. Any kind of school, regardless of ownership, that teaches students in grades 9–11 is eligible to participate in the NBO.

It is conducted in four rounds: the 1st round is called the "school stage" which is held in more than 11,000 schools the 2nd stage is called the "district stage" which is held in 205 districts and then the "regional stage" which takes place in 14 regions (provinces) of the country and the last 4th stage known as the republic stage. The final round is organized by the Ministry of Public Education.

Structure of exam

The 1st round usually includes multiple-choice questions and oral questions. The first round questions are created by the school's Biology teachers.

In the 2nd round, students will be given multiple choice questions, oral and practice tests prepared for all districts by the regional (provincial) department of public education. The tests are different for grades 9-11 and these are prepared in different languages like Uzbek, Russian, Karakalpak depending on the region.

ii) International Olympiad in the Uzbek Language and Literature

The Ministry of Higher and Special Secondary Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan organizes the International Olympiad of Uzbek Language and Literature together with the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Naboi.

The Olympiad is held among students of 15-17 years old foreign citizens (not Uzbeks by nationality) studying at universities in Uzbekistan and abroad.

The International Olympiad in Uzbek Language and Literature takes place in one stage - in the form of tests.

The purpose of the International Olympiad is to strengthen cooperation with foreign countries in the fields of Science and education, increase foreign youth interest in the Uzbek language and literature and increase the prestige of the Uzbek language at the international level.

It is gratifying that 45 students from 10 different countries participate in the Olympiad which is planned to be organized annually. Students studying the Uzbek language in South Korea, Russia, Turkey, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Japan are participating in this competition.
