Olympiad Exams in Venezuela

i) Junior Mathematical Olympiad (OJM)

The Venezuelan Association of Mathematical Competence (ACM) was established in November 2000 and has administered the Kangourou Society Without Borders (AKSF) since 2002 and organizes the Junior Mathematical Olympiad since 2004. Since its establishment, the ACM maintains a program for selecting and training young talents to compete in international Math problem-solving competitions.

Junior Mathematical Olympiad (OJM) is an educational activity in which students enjoy competition without grade pressure and it represents a challenge and motivation for students to participate in the group of the best Mathematics students. They solve problems of logic and creative thinking. Students from 5th grade in elementary school to 5th grade in High school participate in it.

The OJM consists of three tests -

  1. Mathematical Kangaroo Contest
  2. Regional Test
  3. National Test

Mathematical Kangaroo Contest

It is a simple written test with 24 questions for 5th and 6th graders and 30 questions for High school students. This test is taken in the classroom by students.

Regional Test

The selected students take part in the Preliminary exam, which consists of 4 to 6 questions that must be answered by developing the solution.

National Test

The National Final is to be presented in only one city. Logistics and cost issues have driven the ACM to its present format. The test is administered in regional offices that communicate properly. The test consists of 4 to 6 questions.
