How to Spell Bankrupt

Syllables: bank - rupt

Tricky part: The ending rupt has a p before the final t, which students often miss. There is no c before the k.

Memory tip: Think of a bank that has ruptured, or broken. The rupt is the same as in erupt and interrupt.
