How to Spell Accent

Syllables: ac - cent

Tricky part: It has two c's that sound different: the first is hard like k, the second soft like s. Students who spell by ear often drop one.

Watch out for: acent, axent, accint

Memory tip: Say it slowly as ak-sent. You hear a k and then an s, and each sound gets its own c.
