Meaning: A small printed piece of paper you stick on a letter or parcel to show the postage has been paid. As a verb, to stamp is to bring your foot down hard.

How to Spell Stamp

Syllables: stamp

Tricky part: The m before the p is easy to miss because the lips close for both sounds. Some children write stap or stemp.

Watch out for: stemp, stammp, stamb

Memory tip: Hum mmm, then pop your lips for p: st-a-mmm-p. You can feel the m before the p.
