In the heart of a mystical forest, two little brothers- Tim and Tom lived happily with their family. One fine day, as the duo played near the, they heard whispers from behind the trees. Following the soft sounds, they discovered a breathtaking waterfall surrounded by vibrant flowers and butterflies.
Before the children could respond, the waterfall itself began to speak. "Greetings, young adventurers! I am the Enchanted Waterfall, and I have a magical tale to share with you". The enchanted waterfall revealed that it held the secret to a special kind of magic- the magic of cleanliness.
Children, can you tell what's the opposite of clean?
As the children listened intently, the waterfall asked them a question, "Tell me children what is the opposite of clean? Do you know?"
"Yes, yes". said excited Tim. He continued, "It is polluted. Pollution is anything that makes the earth dirty and unhealthy. Land, air, and water are all affected by pollution. Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. These harmful materials are called pollutants. I read that in our school book" exclaimed Tim. "Very good" said Waterfall smiling.
Kids, what do you think makes water magical?
Curious Tom asked Waterfall "Mr Waterfall what makes you magical? The Waterfall said, "My purity and cleanliness make me magical. Not only that all my brothers and sisters have acquired their magical power from purity only. But nowadays with an increasing number of people and due to their careless attitude, we are losing our power and me and members of my community are facing very serious problems". Tim and Tom both became very surprised and sad after listening to this. "Pollution has made our water dirty and unhealthy" added the Waterfall.
Kids, do you know how water becomes polluted?
Tim asked the Waterfall, Mr Waterfall please tell us how you and your other family members like rivers, lakes, ponds etc. are becoming polluted. The Waterfall replied, "Water pollution occurs when harmful things get into the water, making it impure and unsafe for the plants, animals and people like you both."
Kids, can you think of something that might make water impure and unsafe to drink?
Listening to this Tom asked, "What are these harmful things, can you please explain a little more, Mr. Magical Waterfall"? Waterfall became very happy looking at the concern of little kids for their water sources. He soon realised that these kids could bring some changes to this bad situation. He replied, "These harmful things are called pollutants, like harmful chemicals, oil from ships and trash. Trash like plastic bottles and wrappers, floats on our surface and makes us look like a garbage dump. Fishes that live with us also find it difficult to breathe in polluted water and thus often die".
Both brothers were listening carefully. The Waterfall continued, "Tell me children can you name something else that can be called a pollutant for water?" Tim and Tom thought for a moment and then Tom replied, "Dirt"! Waterfall nodded in approval, Absolutely! Dirt and mud can also pollute water, making it cloudy and less safe for living things" explained Waterfall.
Kids, why do you think it's important not to pollute our water sources?
Waterfall asked both brothers, "Dear children, can you tell why we should keep the water sources clean"?
Before Tom could answer, Tim shared his thoughts, "So that animals can have a clean home!" "Yes!", agreed the Waterfall. Soon Tom came up with his answer and replied, If we drink unclean water, we can fall sick and may start vomiting or suffer from stomach ache. Also, dirty water can not be used for bathing, washing clothes or watering plants." "Yes, yes", said the waterfall smiling at the wisdom of such a young mind.
As the kids and Waterfall were talking, Tom noticed that it was almost evening and their mother must be waiting for them to return home after playing. He said, "We must leave now, Mr Waterfall, our mother must be waiting for us at home." Waterfall said, "Yes dear children you may leave but I want you to make a promise to protect our water sources and keep them clean." Tim and Tom together said, " We promise to keep our water clean. We won't litter, and we'll help take care of the water and all the animals that live in it".
After their pledge, both Tim and Tom waved at the magical Waterfall and bid him goodbye with the intention of bringing some good changes for the sake of their water sources.
