    Cotton Clothes

    a) In the summertime, we wear light-coloured clothes made from cotton.

    e) Wool is obtained from the hair of animals like sheep, and it's great for keeping us snug in cold weather.

    a) When it rains, we wear special clothes called raincoats and gumboots.
    b) These clothes are made of waterproof materials that don't let water pass through them.

    d) Raincoats cover our bodies, and gumboots protect our feet from getting wet and muddy.

    Fibres from which Clothes are Made

    Clothes are made from different types of fibres.

    There are two main types:
    a) Natural fibres
    b) Synthetic fibres

    Natural Fibres

    These fibres come from plants and animals.

    1. Cotton: Cotton comes from the fruit of the cotton plant.
    2. Linen: Linen is obtained from the stem of the flax plant.
    3. Jute: Jute is obtained from the stem of the jute plant.
    4. Wool: Wool comes from animals like sheep, goats, rabbits, and yak.
    5. Silk: Silk is obtained from a special insect called a silkworm.

    Synthetic Fibres

    a) These fibres are made by humans and are sometimes called man-made or artificial fibres.
    b) They have special properties like being wrinkle-free, absorbing less water than natural fibres, and drying quickly.
    c) A few examples of synthetic fibres are Nylon, rayon, polyester, and acrylic.
