Green Warrior Activities

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations offer a comprehensive and commendable framework for addressing global challenges, encompassing critical issues such as climate change and environmental degradation. Recognizing the intricate interconnections between these challenges, the Green Warrior Initiatives are strategically designed to empower participants in making positive contributions to the affected areas. CREST Olympiads advocates for a range of activities that aim to raise awareness and understanding of the SDGs, fostering a sense of responsibility and action among participants.

  • About Green Warrior Activities

The Green Warrior Activities are like exciting projects that help people get involved and understand important global goals, such as taking care of the environment. These projects are carefully designed to give participants a practical, hands-on experience, so they can actively be a part of solving environmental problems. It's all about making a positive impact by doing things together and learning about how we can protect our planet. There a number of activities as proposed below which will be conducted across communities to instil a sense of sustainability from the grassroot level.

    Drawing Contest

The competition will be organised by volunteers in their respective communities, aimed at spreading knowledge about sustainable development. Participants are expected to showcase their creativity by raising awareness of sustainable development. Guidelines will be provided to ensure that the participants understand the competition requirements. To ensure fairness, age groups will be divided into different categories such as under 10, 11-15, and 16-18. Artists must adhere to specific size, medium, and format requirements, and a deadline will be provided for submissions.

The success of the submission hinges on the following key factors: the level of creativity and originality brought to the table, how well the work aligns with the given theme, and the demonstration of artistic skills. Keep these in mind, and the participants will be on their way to crafting a winning submission.

The criteria for judging will be based on the following factors: creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and artistic skills. Participants will receive Awards and Recognition.

    Photography Contest

We will be organising a photography competition in different communities to promote sustainable development. Our volunteers will be responsible for organising the competition, and participants will need to be creative to raise awareness of sustainable development. We will provide guidelines to ensure that everyone understands what is required. The age category for participants will be above 10 years old. Artists must follow specific formatting requirements, and there will be a submission deadline. We will evaluate submissions based on creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and artistic skills. Participants will receive Awards and Recognition.

    Waste to Wonder Projects

The Waste to Wonder competition is an event that aims to inspire creativity and promote sustainability by challenging participants to find innovative and practical uses for waste materials. The competition encourages participants to turn discarded items into imaginative pieces of art or functional objects, highlighting the potential for reusing and recycling materials that are often considered trash.

Overall, the competition is a transformative platform that showcases the value of repurposing waste and its positive impact on the environment. Guidelines will be provided to ensure that the participants understand the competition requirements. To ensure fairness, age groups will be divided into different categories such as under 10, 11-15, and 16-18. The criteria for judging will be based on the following factors: creativity, originality, relevance to the theme, and artistic skills. The Awards and Recognition ceremony will acknowledge outstanding individuals who have excelled in their respective fields.

    Community Projects

Community projects encompass a wide range of initiatives aimed at improving and enhancing the well-being of a community. GWO addresses local needs, fosters social cohesion, and creates positive change. Here are several impactful community project ideas that can bring people together and make a difference:

    • Community Gardens: Establish communal green spaces where residents can grow fresh produce, promoting healthy eating and fostering a sense of community.
    • Neighbourhood clean-up campaigns: Organise regular clean-up drives to keep streets, parks, and public spaces litter-free, involving volunteers of all ages.
    • Youth Engagement Programs: Young people can benefit from mentoring, skill-building workshops, and recreational activities that provide positive outlets for their energy and empower them.
    • Environmental Sustainability Initiatives: Implement recycling programs, tree planting drives, or energy-saving campaigns to promote eco-friendly habits.

    Survey

A survey will be conducted among schools to identify best practices in environmental conservation and reward the best-performing schools. This survey aims to identify and recognize schools that excel in promoting environmental awareness and taking steps to become environmentally friendly.
